Underage Drinking in NC

In 2012, an estimated 629,231 crimes including homicides, other violent crimes, property crimes, and public order crimes were attributable to underage drinking.
During 2012, an estimated 36 traffic fatalities and 1,487 nonfatal traffic injuries were attributable to driving after underage drinking.
In 2011, an estimated 9 alcohol-involved fatal burns, drownings, and suicides were attributable to underage drinking.
Underage drinking cost citizens $1.3 billion in 2013.
In 2012, underage customers consumed 9.0% of all alcohol sold in NC, totaling $314 million in sales. These sales provided profits of $154 million to the alcohol industry.
